We specialize in all of Florida's wildlife and rodents. Our goal is to provide a permanent solution to your problem. If you have critters living in your attic, we don't just trap them and call it a job. We solve the root of the problem, by identifying all of the open entry points leading into your house. We seal these shut permanently - we pride ourselves on our repair work, and we offer a full guarantee. The job is not complete, and is often pointless, if the openings are not sealed shut. After we've completely critter-proofed the house and removed all of the invasive wildlife and/or rodents, we clean up the mess that they've left behind. Our attic decontamination and deodorizing services are very thorough, and an important part of a complete wildlife solution. We offer services in the above mentioned cities of Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and we now have Boca Raton Animal Control, Fort Lauderdale Animal Control, and Jacksonville Pest Animal Control branches as well. Give us a call in your area to talk to one of our wildlife experts.

Florida Wildlife Removal tip of the month: How to Get Rid of a Raccoon?

A Florida raccoon is a rodent and can be a pest if you have it in your house. They are known for eating up bird feeds, knocking over of trash cans and littering the trash all over, yard destruction, etc. it is bothersome having such destructive creatures in your home, and ordinarily, you should be thinking of how to get rid of them.

• Tips on how to get rid of a raccoon:
Here are a few tips to follow if you are looking to get rid of a raccoon.
1) Fence your yard: With no fence around your yard, the raccoons has got all the access they can ever think of into your environment, but on the other hand, if you know Florida raccoons, then you should know that ordinary fencing cannot get them out of you yard or garden or orchard. These wild animals are the climbing and digging type. Therefore, if you must use a fence as a means of keeping raccoons away, then you have to go for a heavy duty fence with electricity and all. That is the only kind of fence that can do the job.

2) Exclusion method:
This method of getting rid of raccoon is an age long and effective method. It is very simple too. To get rid of a raccoon using exclusion method, all you have to do is get the raccoon out of your house and lock it out. Now, that is simple but there is a bit more to it; you have to make sure they do not come right back into your house. So, not only do you have to lock the raccoon out, you also have to modifying your environment in a way that sends the Florida raccoon parking or prevent them from getting into your home.

3) Trapping method:
This is another way of getting rid of a raccoon. To trap a raccoon, you will need a trap cage, and a bait to lure the raccoon into the cage. Raccoons eat virtually anything, so getting a bait for a raccoon should not be difficult at all – meats, seeds, nuts, fish, fruits, you name it. Ensure that you are using a proper sized cage to avoid hurting the raccoon in the process of trapping. Also, the cage must be made from something strong enough to withstand the strong clawing and biting of the raccoon. For wild life preservation reasons, I must mention that it is illegal to capture and kill a raccoon. If you do capture it, be sure to relocate it, say 10 miles away from your environment or simply hand it over to wild life removal. You also have to be careful in handling a raccoon, they are strong and they can bite, plus, they can transmit diseases.

4) Use of repellants: OK, so there are a lot of repellents in the market that claims to have the ability to get rid of raccoons. They come in different forms – aerosols, creams, sticks, sprays, etc. There is this one about trash bags. It claims to have repelling properties such that if you use it, the raccoons would not go anywhere close to the bag. There are other repellents in the form of powder, tablets, liquids, etc. Come to think of it, how effective can these repellants be in getting rid of a raccoon? Let us analyze that: for you to really get any fair result out of using repellents to get rid of raccoons, you will have to use the repellent over and over again because these repellants wear off. More importantly, a lot of these repellents are made out of chemicals and the whole point of the repellent thing is to make the raccoon not want to come anywhere close to the environment where the repellent is found; the same applies to other Florida animals, and human beings. These repellant, in whatever form they might be, contain harmful chemicals that are not just harmful to raccoons specifically, but to mammals generally. You may have to put your eyes on the kids and the pets (at the same time) if you make use of repellent. I am sure you do not want to get rid of a raccoon at the expense of your health or the health of your loved ones. The other kind of repellent that is mechanized or electronic has its own downsides too. It can constitute to domestic disturbance, in addition, the raccoons are strong and though animals and most likely will not be deterred by mere water sprinkled on them.

Do not forget that if it ever gets too difficult and frustrating, you can always call the experts to handle it for you. It will only cost you a few bucks and it will be worth it. They know much more about raccoons and raccoon related issues than you can imagine; it is their job.
